Leah began making bereavement bears in 2023, after her sister's mother-in-law died. What started as a way to help one family has grown into her full-time work. She has now made more than 500 keepsakes.

"By creating a bear that they can touch, cuddle, appreciate and see everyday, it's like their relative is still there," Leah told BBC News.

Leah does not wash the clothing you send. Scent is tied to memory, so she keeps it just as it comes. She also leaves the arms and legs free to move, so each bear can be properly cuddled.
